TCL LCD TV E72 wins Red Dot Design Award
The Red Dot Industrial Design Award in Germany is regarded worldwide as "the Olympics” of industrial design, and on July 6th 2007 the review board released the 2007 winner list. TCL overcame 2,548 applicants from 43 countries to win the Red Dot Design Award for its innovative design of the E72 colour border LCD TV, and we thus established ourselves as a global giant in consumer electronics.. This is the first time that a domestic Chinese brand LCD screen has won this, the highest international design accolade, and it marks the second time a TCL design has won this award following the success of the Verone LCD integrated computer, which won the award in 2006. Further award winners on this occasion were famous brands like LG, Fujitsu and Omron.
The Red Dot Industrial Design Award dates back to 1955 and is the best-known prestigious worldwide design award, carrying the reputation of "international industrial design Olympics". Most Red Dot winners — for example, Sony AIBO, APPLE iPod and the Lamborghini sports car — have come to be regarded as classic designs in their fields. This award has become extremely coveted amongst global firms, and the fact that TCL has won it repeatedly indicates that we have achieved a leading position in international design.
The TCL E72 colour border LCD TV comes in two models, 19 and 20 inch, which are specifically for bedroom use, as we aspire to accede to young consumers' demands, which embrace individualism and the pursuit of fashion. The TCL E72 design went counter to tradition with its simple, large sculptured platform base. The design of the perimeter takes its inspiration from bamboo and other natural materials, while the frame itself comes in a choice of pink background with plum blossoms, black background with blue flowers, or grey background with white bamboo. Various colours and designs are available in addition to these, and all integrate the colour spectrum of Japanese origami, Chinese bamboo painting and elegant western lace. These styles all contribute to a ”snazzing up” of the traditional TV and afford owners a brand new visual experience. So even when the power supply is switched off, the TCL E72 is a piece of bedroom furniture in its own right, because it introduces significant aesthetic vibes. The thoughtful design demonstrates a trend towards the next generation of TV sets to be designed specifically for bedroom, living room and even bathroom.
