TCL Corporation Becomes Official Partner of 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games

 

On the two-year countdown to the 16th Asian Games, TCL Corporation officially signed a sponsorship agreement on November 12, 2008 with the 16th Asian Games Organizing Committee (Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee,), becoming an official partner of the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games. TCL will provide sponsorship and technical programs for display devices covering numerous fields such as TVs, large LED screens, security monitors, mobile TVs. GAGOC made the announcement at the sponsorship agreement signing ceremony attended by Mr. Xu Ruisheng, Vice Mayor of Guangzhou and Executive Deputy Secretary General of GAGOC; Mr. Husain Al Musallam, Director General OCA; as well as TCL Corporation COO Bo Lianming, About 300 guests and media representatives witnessed signing of the agreement, with TCL pledging its support for the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games in a variety of capacities, namely capital, technology and services. TCL stands to gain comprehensive rights and interests in the event, as well as promotion opportunities as an official Asian Games partner.

 

On behalf of the Olympic Council of Asia, Mr. Husain Al Musallam, Director General OCA, expressed congratulations to TCL Corporation. He said it is the efforts of sponsors that have made outstanding contributions to developing the Asian Games and promoting the Olympic Movement in Asia. At the same time, the OCA also believes that an international platform such as the Asian Games will help sponsors enhance their own value and obtain public recognition, thus creating favorable opportunities for enterprise development.

 

Vice Mayor of Guangzhou Mr. Xu Ruisheng extended his appreciation to TCL Corporation for becoming an official partner of the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games, adding that the Guangzhou Asian Games is a gathering of all Asian peoples. As a major international sport event to be held in China, the Asian Games is currently attracting the attention of the Chinese society as a whole. As a well-known enterprise in China, TCL Corporation’s decision to sponsor the Guangzhou Asian Games not only reflects strong performance in corporate social responsibility, but also provides an opportunity for the sponsor to fully understand and make good use of such a major international event to enhance its corporate brand and improve its overall competitiveness.

At the signing ceremony, TCL Corporation COO Mr. Bo Lianming said that becoming an official partner of the Asian Games is another important demonstration of TCL’s unwavering support for the development of sport. He described the sponsorship as “TCL’s high-level responsibility to sport, on the basis of its deep commitment to tennis in China”. For many years, TCL has been a strong supporter for the development of sport. When Chinese women's volleyball was struggling in the late in 1990s, TCL joined hands with it and provided important support for the rebound of the team; since 2002, TCL has sponsored four European Golf Tours consecutively; starting from 2007, TCL has been the main sponsor of the Chinese women's tennis team, which has since created many miracles.
